Citrus Cooler Melts

This is one of my absolute favorite scents when I’m cleaning. Today I was steam cleaning the couch, and saw a Citrus Cooler melt sitting all by itself on the table. How it got separated from my basket I don’t know, but it seemed pretty perfect to be there.

Citrus Cooler is a combination of lemon and lime, but there’s a hint of something slightly different in there too (and trust us, we’ve tried to mix lemon and lime alone, and it just doesn’t come out the same). Some say it smells like Sprite, some say Margaritas, and some say it’s something completely different.

Either way, it’s a pretty popular scent. Since I generally don’t use chemicals when I clean, a Citrus cooler melt gives that “I’ve been cleaning and you can smell it in the air” scent I need.

Because it’s a pretty popular scent, it is available in the Best Seller melt pack. You can also get it in any other size or style candle on the site.

Strawberries & Champagne 4oz Candle

Candle of the Day: Strawberries & Champagne 4oz

Today I have burning a 4oz jar in Strawberries & Champagne. I love this scent because it’s got that sweet and tart strawberry scent, yet a slight undertone of champagne making it not “too sweet”.

This particular candle has been filling up my room with a nice scent that seems to be perfect for today. While this particular candle is a 4oz, you can get it in any style or size. I like this size because it’s a nice way to try out scents before you buy a full size. They last just long enough to get a true test of the scent before either getting another scent or buying a bigger size.

Today’s Scent - Hot Apple Pie

Today’s scent of the day is Hot Apple Pie. I had a personal candle sitting here filled with that scent, and decided it was a good day for it. Hot Apple Pie seems to fit any kind of day or weather.

Hot Apple Pie is somewhat of a funny scent. It varies from company to company, yet they all seem to smell like apple pie even if they are drastically different. Ours is a bit more sweet than others can be, but still has that scent of a pie baking in the oven.

As I mentioned, the style candle I’m burning is actually not available on our site because it’s one of my personal candle holders. Those in central Iowa can have their special jars filled with any scent, and it just takes a quick call or email to set it up.

For those not in central Iowa, Hot Apple Pie comes in all the styles and sizes. The personal jar I’m burning right now is very similar to the 4oz Shakers (about the same size), but you can get it in any of the jars or melts as well on the online store.

Blackberry Sage Melts

Candle of the Day: Blackberry Sage Melts

The weather is getting warmer, I can feel it! Still it’s a bit chilly and feels like early spring. For some reason Blackberry Sage seemed like a perfect scent for today.

I had a soy melt to throw in the warmer, and wouldn’t you know it WAS perfect! Pretty strong and just seems to fit the “in between cold and warm” weather we’re having. It’s got a nice, strong throw which is important in my big open room.

This scent is available in 10-pack melts, or also in the summer sample pack.

What scents do you like burning this time of year?

Hummingbird Jelly Jar Candle

Candle of the Day
12oz Jelly Jar, Hummingbird

Today I’ve got a 12oz Jelly Jar in Hummingbird scent burning. I thought it would be a nice scent to burn today, since we are so close to spring but it’s still cold outside.

The scent “Hummingbird” is a wonderful fruit and floral blend. It begins with top notes of tart kiwi, middle notes of lilac and tiger lily, with fresh based notes of pineapples and pears. Very unique, and very popular too!

Why aren’t they called Soy Tarts?

If you’ve spent any time at Prairie Soy Candles, you’ll note we always reference the soy tarts as “soy melts”. Usually when you think of a piece of wax that’s put into a burner of some sort and melted, you will normally call them a wax tart or soy tart. So why don’t we call them soy tarts?

The answer is pretty simple - we can’t!

“Tarts” is actually a trademark term used by Yankee. Legally we can NOT call them soy tarts without getting in trouble. Plus we would NEVER want to do anything unethical. That’s just bad business to steal a trademarked term.

Instead we use the term “soy melt” because it’s easy to understand. It does just what it says - it “melts” in a warmer of some type.  Many other small candle businesses are also using this term, so it’s quickly becoming somewhat of a standard to call them soy melts.

So the next time you question why a business isn’t using the term “tart”, you’ll know why. And if you see a company that IS, they might just be doing something illegal if it’s not a Yankee tart.

Dandelion Pear Scented Candle

Todays’ candle of the day is a nice spring scent, which goes just perfect with the nice weather we’ve finally got coming our way.

Dandelion Pear is a fresh, clean, spring scent that you’ll just absolutely love. It combines tart dandelion with a sweet pear scent.

This scent is available in all our styles and sizes - jelly jars, melts, and unique candles. You can see all the options at our online store.

Eucalyptus Soy Melt

Candle of the Day

Today’s candle of the day is a Eucalyptus soy melt. I’ve been pretty sick over the last several days, so this is the absolute perfect melt to have in the melt warmer today.  While it’s not an essential oil (it’s a fragrance oil, which is synthetic), it seems to work just like one. It always helps clear up our colds a little bit.

It’s the right time of year for this scent, that’s for sure!

Caribbean Morning Melts

Candle of the Day - Caribbean Morning Melt

Today in my melt warmer is a Caribbean Morning melt. This scent is a combination of pineapple and coconut, with a slight hint of vanilla. On a cold winter day, this melt turned out to be absolutely perfect.

I love melts (often called “tarts”), because you have no flame and they can be changed often. Each lasts about 2-3 days, depending on the scent (some last even longer!). Melts can be used in electric tart warmers or in a bowl sitting on hot plate. (Some sell wickless candles to be used on the plates, although we offer bowls for the plates to use melts in).

Caribbean Morning comes in melt packs of 10 at our online store. You can also pick it up in any size or style of soy candles. Wonderful scent for today!
